Albuquerque, NM - Mezel Mods won first prize in the second annual Creative Startups Accelerator. The six-week program works with companies selected from the creative industries, culminating in a five-day deep dive in Albuquerque. Nine startups and over thirty mentors from across the globe spent the five days pitching their businesses with the goal of winning the top prize. Creative Startups awarded $50,000 to the top three finalists—Mezel Mods, Beyond Buckskin and FAR Botanicals.
"We were thrilled to be selected to participate in the program and are overwhelmed to have been selected as the winner," say Kristin Browning-Mezel and Tim Mezel, owners of Mezel Mods, a Rio Rancho based aftermarket pinball accessories business. "We had the opportunity to learn from exceptional mentors in the areas of business planning, visioning, marketing how to pitch the company to investors. The relationships we built with the other startups were amazing. Winning was icing on the cake!"
"Mezel Mods is a local company showing exceptional understanding of a niche market and with tremendous opportunity based on their solid business model. By harnessing the 3D printing technology, they are leading the way in manufacturing real products," says Roxanne Blair, Director of Programs for Creative Startups.
Mezel Mods has plans to apply what they learned along with the award from the program to expand and take the business to the next level not only in sales but also in business effectiveness.
